Using 4D Server, client applications can be installed on an unlimited number of Windows, macOS machines, or Qodly applications.

The number of users allowed to connect to the server concurrently is limited by the number of Client Expansion licenses.

In other words, you need to license the maximum (peak) number of users connected simultaneously to a 4D Server. You do not need to purchase a license for every employee or computer, which is a great advantage compared to a named-user model.

Additional concurrent users can be added to your 4D Server by buying a 4D Client Expansion pack. They are available in 1-, 5- and 10-unit packs.

4D View Pro adds value to 4D applications, offering integrated spreadsheet capabilities and a comprehensive set of enhanced data-viewing features.

Spreadsheet functions include calculations, projections, and analyses; data-viewing features allow the programming of dynamic input interfaces and calculation lists, printable lists, and more.

Direct import and export of Microsoft Excel documents allow for integration into company reporting requirements (with automatic creation or filling of financial documents). Direct PDF export is also provided.

4D Write Pro provides sophisticated word and report processing tools, as well as document management functionalities within your 4D applications.

4D Write Pro documents can use data from 4D records: You can write reports and letters, as well as build advanced brochures that automatically extract information from your database and merge it with contents.

Your work can be independent of your database or use data extracted from your database records.

Documents can be created using a programming language or smart template technology.

Microsoft Word documents can be imported or exported; additionally, 4D Write Pro can export as PDF, SVG, MIME, or HTML format.

PDF/A and PDF/A3 are supported; for PDF/A3, integration of additional documents, such as those required for Factur-X or Zugferd, is supported (e-invoicing/electronic invoicing).

4D Web applications can be created using 4D’s extremely flexible and extensive built-in capabilities, and be further enhanced with the optional addition of 4D Web 2.0 Pack, and/or through third-party web development products.

The 4D Web Application Expansion license allows unlimited connections to your 4D application’s built-in HTTP server. It can be linked either to 4D Server or to the client-side application (i.e the 4D Client license). This allows you to launch your Web server on a distinct machine, typically in a DMZ, or to execute a number of different Web applications linked to the same database. However, you must choose your option when you purchase your Web Application Expansion, as the feature activation process is not the same between 4D Server and 4D Client.
